Marillion’s fifteenth studio album hasn’t a name yet, and most of the material is still to be written. Nevertheless, it’s already available for pre-order on the band’s website.

They have decided to make the forthcoming album a double album, which will be available both as a double album and as two separate albums (volumes 1 & 2). To make everything more interesting, and sell more albums one might add, there are some special aspects with this release. The most exiting aspect for the fans is probably that if you pre-order the aptly named Deluxe Campaign 2CD Edition before February 1, you get your name on the CD booklet! Your pre-order for the Deluxe Campaign 2CD Edition will also enter you into a variety of prize draws. The prizes include sound check/front row passes to the Snow-where Else tour, a Marillion tour which takes place in November and December 2007, a visit to the Racket Club studio, that’s Marillion’s recording studio, gift vouchers, meet-and-greets, sound check/front row passes to the Album 15 tour, and, probably the biggest prize of it all: an all expenses paid trip to the Marillion Weekend 2009.

The 2 CD Edition is priced at £ 29.99 and is only available to pre-order. The double album split into Volumes 1 & 2 available separately as 'normal' 1CD-in-a-box releases are priced at £9.99 each. If you want to pre-order the 2 CD Edition go here.

Apart from giving something extra to the fans, there is of course a financial aspect to all of this. If a sufficient number of people pre-order the 2 CD Edition, it will mean a lot of money. This will give Marillion freedom to explore musical ideas without having to compromise with any one, record the forthcoming album, put together an advertising campaign for it, and so on.

This isn’t the first time Marillion make a CD available to pre-order. For instance, they did it with “Anoraknophobia” from 2001 and “Marbles” from 2004.
